1. Introduction
This statement is made by ITs Designs Ltd (TA: Alert-iT Care Alarms) (“Alert-iT”, “we”, “us” or “our”) in line with the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the steps we take to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chain.
2. Our business
Alert-iT designs, manufactures and supplies assistive technology and safety solutions from our base in Leicester, United Kingdom. Our customers include individuals, families, care providers and the NHS. We work with a small number of UK and European suppliers for components, manufacturing services and logistics.
3. Our commitment
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
4. Our policies
Recruitment
We verify the identity and right to work of every person we employ, and pay at or above the statutory minimum wage. All staff are employed on transparent terms and are free to leave their employment.
Whistleblowing
Staff are encouraged to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chain without fear of reprisals.
Code of conduct
We expect everyone working with us, including suppliers and contractors, to act ethically and to comply with all applicable laws on employment, health and safety, and human rights.
5. Supply chain due diligence
We assess the modern slavery risk of our suppliers based on the country in which they operate, the goods or services they provide, and our prior experience working with them. Where appropriate, we ask suppliers to confirm their own compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and to flow equivalent obligations down to their own suppliers. We reserve the right to terminate relationships with any organisation that fails to meet these standards.
6. Training and awareness
Members of staff with responsibility for purchasing, recruitment and supplier management are made aware of the risks of modern slavery and the indicators to look out for, so that concerns can be identified and escalated quickly.
7. Review
This statement is reviewed annually and updated as required to reflect changes in our business, our supply chain and applicable legislation.
