Every March thousands of people across the globe come together for the internationally recognised Epilepsy awareness month. Yes, on 26th March the world will turn purple again as people raise awareness, understanding, and money for the condition.
And just as we did last year, the team at Alert-iT are getting involved. And we want you to as well.
Reasons For You To Get Involved
Despite more than 50 million people around the world living with epilepsy, 600,000 of those in the UK, epilepsy is not a widely understood condition. And this needs to change.
Epilepsy is a rare condition and even with today?s medical advances cannot be cured. With 87 people in Great Britain diagnosed with epilepsy every day, the condition is more common in children and older adults. It is therefore important that we all continue to raise awareness and help people understand that we should never stigmatise those who have may have epilepsy.
What is Purple Day?
Founded by Cassidy Megan, who was motivated by her own struggles with epilepsy, Purple Day began its journey into a widely recognised event in 2008. The young girl wanted people around the world to come together and teach others about Epilepsy, to get people talking, dispel myths, and inform those with seizures that they are not alone.
Held annually on 26th March every year, Purple Day is an internationally recognised day of awareness encouraging a host of fundraising efforts. Whether you opt to wear purple to work, bake purple cakes, host a simple coffee morning, or run for money your options are endless and your efforts greatly appreciated.
Alert-iT Goes Purple
The team here at Alert-iT will be doing their bit too. Working hard to raise awareness for Epilepsy all year round we?re stepping up our game for Purple Day. In fact, Karanj will be dyeing his hair purple yet again this year; so look out for some fantastic photos.
Additionally, for the whole of March we will be donating ?1 to charity for every monitor purchased. We?ll even raise this to ?2 for every Ep-iT monitor sold.
