Just a few weeks ago Alert-it drew your attention to Purple Day, the international day of awareness aimed to get people involved in fundraising.
Not only did the team supply a mountain of treats to sell at the charity bake sale but our very own Karanj dyed not only his hair, but beard purple too! Although we think he secretly loves it, we are very grateful for his excellent idea to raising money. And our day didn?t stop there as we later ventured all the way to London for the Young Epilepsy Champions Awards where we sponsored the Best Practice Award.
What are The Champion Awards
Since 2013 guests have gathered at London?s City Hall to celebrate UK charity Young Epilepsy?s Champions Awards. The event is a fantastic occasion which celebrates the continued effort of individuals and organisations across the country as they make huge efforts in improving the lives of hundreds affected by epilepsy.
Not only do they aim to support individuals through hard times but to support and celebrate their successes and achievements.
And The Award Goes To?
The team at Alert-it were honoured to not only be attending the event this year but sponsoring and presenting the Best Practice award. This award is specifically designed for education and healthcare professional who have worked together in new ways to improve the services and outcomes for young people with epilepsy.
David, our founder here at Alert-it, presented the award to Tessa Walker a Whittington Health Nurse. Talking from the heart David awarded Tessa for her proactive role in which she has helped develop a self-management programme that Young Epilepsy were then commissioned to deliver. Always going that extra mile for the children and families she supports, not only was it a proud moment for Tessa but our entire team too.
Continue to Raise Awareness
Although International Purple Day (26th March) is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness, it doesn?t end there. Keep an eye out for all the events we?ll be attending throughout the year and the many ways to can continue to help those who have epilepsy.
